Update: The roll-out begins on July 25. Earlier this year, LG released its first 2019 TVs that would eventually gain support for HomeKit and AirPlay 2. Now, the TV maker says that updates will soon start to roll out that add support for those features. In a tweet, LG’s Australian support account says that HomeKit and AirPlay 2 updates will start rolling out to users in one week. This means that users could start seeing support as early as next Monday....

Apple today released the third developer preview of macOS Sierra since showing off the software update for the Mac at WWDC 2016. Ming-Chi Kuo is out today with a new note on iPhone XR pre-order demand. As he previously predicted, the new device is outpacing the sales of iPhone 8/8 Plus from last year even as stock of XR remains good. Last week, Kuo upped his forecast of iPhone XR sales for the current quarter from 33m-35m units to 36m-38m. That bumped his total iPhone sales estimate from 75m-80m up to 78m-83m for the holiday quarter....

Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs has bought a majority stake in The Atlantic magazine. She described The Atlantic as one of the country’s most important and enduring journalistic institutions, but told Recode that she also had another reason for the acquisition. The terms of the deal weren’t revealed, but with an estimated net worth of $20B, the purchase is unlikely to have stretched her finances. Powell Jobs spoke earlier in the year about how she chooses to use the money....

LG today announced a new system to help bridge the gap between a range of televisions and mobile software. The Connect SDK is an open-source, multi-platform tool that developers can use to make their mobile apps compatible with different TV set-top boxes and smart TVs. In a press release, Samuel Chang, LG Electronics USA vice president and head of the LG Silicon Valley Lab said: Connect SDK is designed to address the problem of connecting apps with a second screen, the TV, which still serves as a main point of content consumption for many households....
