An advisory by NHS Digital says that an ‘unknown threat group’ is attempting to exploit a Log4j vulnerability (CVE-2021-44228) in VMware Horizon servers to establish web shells that could be used to distribute malware and ransomware, steal sensitive information, and complete other malicious attacks. It’s unclear if the warning has been issued because attacks targeting NHS systems have been detected, or if the advisory has been released as a general precaution because of the ongoing problem of the critical security vulnerability in Java logging library Apache Log4j that was disclosed in December....

Since the new M1 Macs were announced, developers have been working to run different operating systems on the Apple Silicon platform, including Windows and Linux. Now, thanks to Corellium, it’s possible to run Ubuntu — a popular Linux distro — on new Macs with M1 chip. The announcement was made on Twitter by Corellium’s CTO Chris Wade. Corellium offers solutions for virtualization of ARM devices and platforms, and it was recently involved in a lawsuit with Apple regarding a tool that lets users virtualize iOS....

During the “It’s show time” event in late March, Apple announced that the TV app would be coming to the Mac soon. This naturally sparked discussions about whether Apple would be bringing its other media apps to the Mac, finally splitting up iTunes into distinct applications. The latest data shows the entire smartphone industry saw shipments rise 6 percent year over year to hit 375 million worldwide during Q3 2016. Shipment rose from 345.2 million units in Q3 2015 to 375.4 million in Q3 2016, which is the industry’s fastest growth rate for a year....

Surprisingly, it looks as if The Lion King wasn’t submitted by Disney as an animated film for the Golden Globe awards. Released earlier this year, 2019’s version of The Lion King is nearly a shot-for-shot recreation of the original animated Disney film from the 1990’s, but this time displaying lifelike computer-generated animals instead of the hand-drawn depictions previously used. The Lion King performed astoundingly well at the box office upon release, and it’s subsequent placement on Disney’s streaming service Disney+ has only led to even more views on the product....

M1 iMac orders first opened up this morning with the all-new design coming in seven colors. While there are models still available for the earliest May 21 delivery, some colors are now pushed into June. Apple has quite the variety of M1 iMacs available when you consider all of the storage and RAM options plus seven colors (four for the base model). The earliest deliveries for pre-orders of the new iMac are set to arrive by May 21 but after availability being open for just about five hours, a number of colors now have shipping times going into mid-June....

Based on sources, Kuo says that Apple expects to ship between 15 to 20 million of the foldable iPhone in 2023. The company will likely work with Samsung as the exclusive supplier of foldable OLED displays for the new iPhone model, whose design and specifications remain unknown. In his previous report on the first foldable iPhone, the analyst predicted that the device will have a screen between 7.5 and 8 inches, and now he reinforced that Apple will adopt an 8-inch foldable display....
