Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out this evening with a new investor note covering early order estimates of Samsung’s Galaxy S10. The analyst is increasing his Galaxy S10 shipment estimate by 30 percent citing ‘spec differentiation’ from current iPhones, including an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Kuo says that he is increasing shipping estimates of the Galaxy S10 series from between 30 million and 35 million to between 40 million and 45 million. He outlines three reasons for this: the market’s view on high-end smartphone sales, spec differentiation from iPhone models, trade-in programs, and strong demand in China....

Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes (which has a a hit-and-miss record in the Apple rumors business) is out today with the news that Largan Precision might become the principal supplier of eight-megapixel lens modules for a fifth-generation iPhone: The same company already supplies Apple with five-megapixel lens modules for iPhone 4. They also provide lenses for iPad 2. Note the mention of the third quarter of 2011 release which corroborates what everyone else has been hearing lately, that the next iPhone is set for a Fall 2011 launch at the earnest rather than arrive at Apple’s annual developer conference which runs this year from June 6-10....

The idea that the iPhone 11 would feature a triple-camera system in a rectangular formation — three cameras plus the flash — was first raised by Onleaks back in January. Japanese blog Macotakara today corroborates the mockups with sourcing from Chinese suppliers. The site says the design of the new iPhone camera system is similar to the camera module seen in the Huawei Mate 20 and may be available on both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max successors, but limited to higher-capacity storage tiers....
