Vivo is a Chinese smartphone maker which serves as an independent brand under BBK Electronics which also own OnePlus and Oppo. Vivo has tweaked almost every aspect of a device may it be the processor or the camera or the display and literally has tonnes of options to choose from. Vivo offers smartphones with standard and rather unusual form factor with a single front & dual rear cameras while there are plenty of smartphones with triple rear module modules. Vivo also offers smartphones with dual display to a truly Full-Screen Display thanks to motorized pop-up camera module to a unique top module that protrudes out when needed and lot more.
Vivo is a hot commodity when it comes to Android 10 as it has listed not one but three phones for the beta program where all the three phones have already received respective beta versions of upcoming Android 10. Google released Android 10 officially on September 3 which means the stable update will be released soon although the timeline is still blurred & will only uncover when Vivo makes it official.
Android 10 was earlier known as Androdi Q where we didn’t knew what ‘Q’ stood for as there were plenty of options of desserts that begin with the letter ‘Q’ such as Quirks, Quince, Queen of Puddings, Quindim, Qottab, Quesito, Surabaya, or it could be called Queijadinha among others. However, Google officially declared the new OS as Android 10 and the numbering system is here to stay and will increment each year. Android 10 brings a number of features as such as it will support upcoming 5G networks while a system-wide dark mode will enable users to simply dim the light and the use app without any issues.
Android 10 Features
Smart Reply: You might have seen this feature on Gmail or a few Google apps but it is not available for all messaging apps. Based on the context of the message or email received, Smart Reply uses AI to predict responses. Also, it has added an action button so that if you receive a location or YouTube video link, you can simply check it out on a click of a button.
Gesture Navigation: Unlike previous Android OSes where either on-screen buttons or even thick sliders would enable navigation from apps to the Home screen or from one app to another, Android 10 adds a Gesture Navigation system that requires users to simply pull the edges of the display to go forward to backwards and slightly pull up to retreat to the Home screen and finally, swipe up to view all apps.
Dark Theme: The system-wide Dark Theme or Dark Mode adds to the already competent arsenal of features that Android 10 brings on-board. It works on all Google apps as well as many third-party apps and eases the stress & the strain on the eyes while relieving the battery from excess work. Google is implementing more third-party apps to adopt Dark More in the coming days.
Location Controls: With the latest Android 10 in action, users will have more control over their location-based data than ever. You can either grant all or deny or grant it access only when the said app is in use thus, you now have more control over the apps that needs location data.
Project Mainline: Android devices have started receiving security updates a lot quicker than earlier. With Project Mainline on the track with Android 10, Google will push out crucial bug fixes and security updates every month via Google Play Store which is definitely quicker than receiving the updates via OTA.
Focus Mode: It is an extended trait in Google’s Digital WellBeing app. The feature lets users snooze all those apps that are distracting so there are no more notifications displayed when you add an app to the list. You can remove the apps at any time by disconnecting Focus Mode when you are done with your work.
Live Caption: It is literally what it means. Live Caption adds captions to any videos, podcasts, and even audio messages on your Android 10 enabled smartphone right there. The captions are at real-time and seamlessly integrated to support plenty of apps and functionalities.
Family Link: The out-of-the-box feature Family Link enables setting up ground rules for your kids who go online. As a parent, you can control the limit on screen time, manage apps and view activity and location among other details and that’s all with a tap of a button on-screen.

What to do if your phone is not eligible for Android 10?
If you went through this extensive list of Android 10 supported Vivo devices, it is very clear that even though a good chunk of smartphones are eligible and would receive the update until the end of 2020, there is a larger list that dictates the smartphones that aren’t eligible for the update. If your phone is one of them, you can actually leave it like that or try upgrading to a newer device using the buyback program or take part in an exchange program or even simply switch the device if you bought it from a mobile carrier or however it works that would allow you to upgrade to Android 10 with a newer phone in your hand but there’s more.
If you want to stick to your current phone and there could be a plethora of reasons why, you can actually try loading a custom ROM like LineageOS or RessurrectOS that will satisfy your need to have a different UI and functionalities, features, and more without actually getting an Android update which is nowhere near since your phone is already off the support. LineageOS is developing its ‘LineageOS 17’ which will be based on Android 10 which means you will get to update and try new features without any hassle. Similarly, there are a number of custom ROMs available on the internet that you can download and install without any further ado.
