Protagonist Cal Kestis’ adorable droid companion, BD-1, helps brighten the player’s journey through Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and now the diminutive droid exists in LEGO form. YouTuber hachiroku24’s BD-1 MOC (“my own creation”) has been making its way around the LEGO Star Wars community, revealing the potential of a LEGO Jedi: Fallen Order toy line.

The first single-player Star Wars game in years, Jedi: Fallen Order followed EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront 2 multiplayer loot box disaster with a traditional Star Wars story, and Jedi: Fallen Order reviews were mostly positive. Respawn Entertainment successfully delivered a game compelling enough to earn sales that surprised EA, hitting the high end of EA’s sales predictions. That unexpected success means unexpected merchandise potential, and - well - it’s not just TikTok that’s obsessed with LEGO Star Wars.

In the absence of official sets, fans have taken up building their own LEGO versions of Jedi: Fallen Order’s characters and scenes. Besides the usual protagonist minifigure MOCs, BD-1 builds seem to be the favorite, likely because the droid’s small scale makes it easier to imagine in LEGO form. Several different creators have taken on the BD-1 building challenge, but hachiroku24’s does perhaps the best job translating the droid into a building set. The BD-1 build was uploaded to hachiroku24’s YouTube channel, which also has build tutorials for things like The Mandalorian’s Baby Yoda and The Rise of Skywalker’s D-O, in late December 2019, and several LEGO fans on Reddit have been busy recreating his build since.

Commenters on hachiroku24’s MOCs are quick to point out they would buy them if LEGO made them into official sets, so it’s worth considering: Would LEGO ever release a Jedi: Fallen Order set? There have been LEGO sets based on Star Wars video games in the past, both before and after EA got the Star Wars license. Most recently, LEGO released two “battle pack” sets in 2015 based on the first Star Wars: Battlefront’s Rebel and Empire factions, and a 2019 battle pack contained the Battlefront 2 story’s Inferno Squad. Single-player games got some LEGO love, too, with a 2008 set based on the first Force Unleashed game.

It’s probably too late for a Jedi: Fallen Order LEGO set to gain the sales it would have if it had instead released alongside the game last year. It appears Respawn is hiring developers for Jedi: Fallen Order 2, so perhaps the first game’s success will prompt Disney and LEGO to take interest in some Jedi: Fallen Order 2 sets.
