Warner Bros. has celebrated the release of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 4 on home media by debuting an exclusive deleted scene. In 2015, the spinoff from Arrow and The Flash saw several outcast characters like Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz), Mick Rory/Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), and Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brandon Routh) recruited by time master Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) to face the villainous Vandal (Casper Crump) Savage across the timeline. While the show was problematic at first, Legends of Tomorrow began to find its creative footing in season 2 and by season 3, the time-traveling series truly embraced its weirdness to become what many fans feel is the best show in the Arrowverse.
In Legends of Tomorrow season 4, John Constantine (Matt Ryan) joined as a series regular and with his help, the misfit superheroes took on magical Fugitives across time as well as the season’s Big Bad, the demon Neron. Meanwhile, the Legends’ relationship with the Time Bureau deepened as Sara Lance began dating Director Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) while Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) discovered the secret plans his father Hank (Tom Wilson) had for the Fugitives held in captivity by the Time Bureau. In addition, Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford) turned herself into the Time Bureau in order to pay for her crimes in season 3 while her love interest Ray Palmer cheers on Nora’s redemption.
In a clip sent exclusively to Screen Rant by Warner Bros., the Legends of Tomorrow season 5 deleted scene is from episode 10, “The Getaway”. While Hank Heywood chases the Legends - who kidnapped President Richard Nixon - in 1973, back at the Time Bureau, Agent Gary Green (Adam Tsekhman) recruited Nora Darhk for help to uncover Hank’s conspiracy. The deleted scene is actually an extended scene from what aired in the episode and it features more interaction between Nora and Gary, including the reasons why Nora is reluctant to help and Gary’s surprisingly encouraging words that motivate Nora to do the right thing. Legends of Tomorow’s season 4 will release on DVD and Blu-ray on September 24 and it comes with even more deleted scenes. In addition, the set includes a gag reel and the featurettes “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Legendary Storytelling” and “Post Production Theater.” Legends of Tomorrow season 5 won’t return on The CW until January 2020 but the series will be part of the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover, where Brandon Routh will once again don the red cape to play Kingdom Come Superman. When the series picks up in Legends of Tomorrow season 5, the superhero outcasts will take on evil historical figures who were released from Hell and let loose across the timeline, like Genghis Khan, Bloody Mary Tudor, Caligula, and Charles Manson.
The exclusive deleted scene was likely cut for time although the entire scene shows Gary’s caring, heroic nature despite his wackiness. However, there’s a bittersweet aspect to Nora’s decision to help Gary and the Legends, given that fans now know both Courtney Ford and Brandon Routh will leave Legends of Tomorrow at some point in season 5. At least Nora Darhk’s fans now know there’s a little more of their favorite sorceress in the deleted scenes of the season 4 home media release, which somewhat helps soothe the sting for when Nora and Ray Palmer exit Legends of Tomorrow.
