The key selling-point of a smart thermostat like Nest or Tado is that you shouldn’t often need to control it manually, as it learns your preferences and monitors whether family members are home or away. But for those times when you do want to make manual adjustments, the process just got more convenient: the latest update to the Nest app adds Apple Watch support …

The update also has a few enhancements for those using Nest Cam or Dropcam cameras.

  • Spaces groups your Nest products by room and lets you see all your cameras at once
  • Share a password protected live view of your camera. Now grandma can see what the kids are up to at video.nest.com.
  • 1080p support for Dropcam Pro.
  • Automatic video quality adjustment helps make sure you get a continuous, clear picture.

The Nest app is a free download from iTunes.

Belkin’s Wemo switches got Nest support back in May, allowing connected devices to be automatically switched on and off by Nest’s presence-detection.
