The acclaimed Divinity: Original Sin 2 looks like it’s getting a sequel, and the title is going to be a tactical RPG. Larian Studios is going to be working with Logic Artists (the minds behind Expeditions: Viking) to bring this new adventure in Rivellon to life. This Divinity: Original Sin 2 sequel is going to be called Divinity: Fallen Heroes and it’s been announced that it will be released later on this year.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 has cultivated quite the reputation with critics and fans of the series alike, and the community has been clamoring for another entry from Larian Studios. While a tactical title may not have quite been what fans were expecting, the footage so far appears to suggest that it’ll incorporate everything that made Divinity: Original 2 entertaining.
Larian Studios took to Twitter to announce the Divinity: Original Sin 2 sequel, tweeting out the trailer for what’s being called Divinity: Fallen Heroes. From the footage, it looks like the latest from Larian Studios is going to be a direct continuation of the story that players visited in the last Divinity: Original Sin. The trailer shows that you’ll be in charge of the trusty Lady Vengeance for a bunch of tactical missions and that these missions are going to be more exciting than ever with the changes that look to have happened in Rivellon since the last game.
From gunpowder to new status effects and more to experience either by yourself or with a friend, Divinity: Fallen Heroes and its focus on hardcore tactics mechanics (including party members dying for real and being unusable a la Fire Emblem), this looks like a whale of a time. The trailer for this Divinity: Original Sin 2 sequel also looks to focus on fan-favorite characters and locations from the original game, which is surely going to be a draw for those who couldn’t get enough of the rich lore that was one of the hallmarks of the title.
There’s no definitive date locked in yet on when this Divinity: Original Sin 2 sequel is going to be released later this year, but the footage from the trailer has definitely whet our appetite. The game is going to be featured at PAX East, so those with time on their hands and the inclination will be able to stop by and potentially give Divinity: Fallen Heroes a whirl and find out more.
