Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Gemma Arterton, Tom Hollander, and more have joined the cast of Kingsman: The Great Game, Matthew Vaughn’s prequel Kingsman movie. While Taron Egerton starred in the first two Kingsman films, the third entry in the franchise will not star him and will instead go back to an older period for the secret organization.

Vaughn has big plans for the Kingsman franchise, and the next step will be a World War I-set story that follows a new lead character by the name of Conrad, a young son of a British Duke, played by Harris Dickinson. At the time of his casting, it was also revealed that Ralph Fiennes joined the movie, and there has been plenty of casting news since then too, with Charles Dance, Daniel Brühl, and more reportedly enrolling in the ensemble.

Thanks to some new information from Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, it appears Kingsman: The Great Game has several brand new cast members. Bamigboye revealed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is reuniting with his Kick-Ass director for the prequel film in an undisclosed role. He shared in some follow-up tweets that Gemma Arterton, Tom Hollander, Djimon Hounsou, and Alison Steadman have all joined the cast. Arterton will play the nanny of Conrad, while Hollander will play three different members of Queen Victoria’s family tree.

The reunion between Taylor-Johnson and Vaughn is a long time coming, but also will be a return for Taylor-Johnson to bigger, more mainstream movies. After a string of blockbusters that included Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron, he has transitioned more into independent cinema, which resulted in a Golden Globes win two years ago for Nocturnal Animals. Arterton has similarly gone to smaller movies as of late, while Hollander just appeared in Bohemian Rhapsody and Hounsou will be in both Captain Marvel and Shazam! early this year.

It appears that Vaughn has once again managed to assemble an impressive cast for his latest Kingsman movie based on these additions. Fox previously set a November 2019 release date for an untitled Kingsman movie that is believed to be The Great Game, and Bamigboye’s mention of filming now being underway backs up prior reports that filming would begin in January. The plan is for Vaughn to direct both Kingsman: The Great Game and Kingsman 3 back-to-back, with just a short break in between. If that is still the plan, then the full cast and start of production on Kingsman: The Great Game signals the beginning of Vaughn’s master plan to potentially close out the Kingsman story.
