Kingdom Hearts 3’s newest expansion has arrived, providing new areas, bosses, and story content. Here’s a walkthrough for Kingdom Hearts 3’s Re:Mind DLC episode. Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind breaks its DLC into three different sections, Re:Mind, LimitCut, and the Secret Episode. Re:Mind acts as an expansion of the original ending to Kingdom Hearts 3. The DLC assists in adding more context to the ending and answers the question of what happens to Sora after he goes off to find Kairi. New playable areas and characters are available in this episode. This guide will help players make their way through the Re:Mind episode.

In Re:Mind, Sora uses his abilities to search for Kairi’s lost heart. This leads him down a road he won’t be able to come back from. Sora begins to trace his friend’s hearts to make his way closer to Kairi’s. Sora travels back in time to the point in the Keyblade Graveyard where all of his friends were attacked by Terra-Xehanort. Once Ventus is knocked down, Sora begins to feel the pain Ventus felt. This darkness begins to shoot out of Ventus’s heart, leading to the first boss of the Re:Mind episode.

How To Beat Dark Inferno X in Kingdom Hearts 3: Re:Mind DLC

Dark Inferno X is a simpler version of its counterpart, Dark Inferno, the secret boss from the base Kingdom Hearts 3. Dark Inferno X steps back, then lounges at Sora with his sword. Block these and counter-attack. When Dark Inferno X’s weapons glow red, this means the attack is unblockable. Dodge roll away then punish this attack. They also put up their swords in an “X” formation to block. Do not hit this as Dark Inferno X will counter. Wait until he drops his weapons, then Quick-Step to wherever on the map he flies off to. In the case when they shoot out of red circular ray, wait until the attack is done then Quick-Step to attack. On occasion, Dark Inferno X will send dark fireballs in the player’s direction. Wait until they surround Sora and carefully time when to block them. If successful, the player should be able to block both of these attacks. Dwindle down Dark Inferno X’s health and that will take care of the first boss of Re:Mind.

After completing Dark Inferno X, Sora will make the next leap into another one of his friend’s hearts, Aqua. Revealed in Re:Mind, Aqua has been struggling with the darkness haunting her from her time in the Realm of Darkness. This causes Aqua to drop her weapon when attacked by a swarm of Heartless. Now with Sora present in her heart, he’s able to see what’s been causing her so much trauma, leading into the next boss of Re:Mind

How To Beat Anti Aqua in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC

Anti Aqua plays exactly how she does in the first playthrough of Kingdom Hearts 3. This time Sora is much stronger so this should not cause too much trouble. Anti Aqua begins by charging up and teleporting across the map. When she reappears, she’ll begin to shoot dark orbs in Sora’s direction. Block these and she’ll stagger. Punish this for some damage. In the situation where she duplicates and surrounds Sora, wait until she slows down. Here, block and counter to stagger her again. Repeat this and win the fight.

Re:Mind will begin to replay through the segment where all the characters return after Sora went to save them. The action this time follows the Lingering Will and Terra Xehanort, in the original, they disappear off-screen. A flashy cinematic will play of them facing off against each other. Sora, worried about the fate of the Terra, leaps out of his heart and faces Terra Xehanort.

How To Beat Terra Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC

This is the first fully original fight in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind. Terra Xehanort will summon his guardian to attack Sora. Dodge Roll away from the Guardian and attack Terra Xehanort. Block his Keyblade swings and counter to stagger him. As the Guardian continues to try and attack Sora, Dodge Roll away until the end of his attack. Terra Xehanort’s desperation move will kick in after sustaining serious damage. He sends his Guardian to pummel the ground and the shock wave can damage Sora. Time the roll appropriately to avoid being attacked. When Terra Xehanort shoots out dark lasers in Sora’s direction, these can be reflected by blocking. Keep doing this until he’s out of HP.

Despite winning the fight, through the next cutscene, Sora is defeated. The next major chunk of Re:Mind will be replaying through the ending section of the Keyblade Graveyard in the original game (where Sora fights the Organization in groups) but there’s a new twist with additional playable characters and minor changes to cutscenes. Before each section, the player will be prompted to play as Sora, or one of his friends. The first of these battles is with Riku.

Playing As Riku in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC

Riku was previously a playable character in the base Kingdom Hearts 3 but this time he comes with a few new abilities. Riku is now able to perform a shotlock similar to Sora. His shotlock requires a well-timed button press to send out the most damage. During his fight with Xigbar and Dark Riku, his barrier is useful to reflect incoming projectiles. Focusing on Xigbar, keep the distance between him and Riku very small, as Xigbar has the tendency to warp all around the arena frequently. Block all of his attacks using Riku’s barrier. Even when Xigbar pulls out his desperation mode, Riku can block these. Focus on eliminating him first before focusing on Dark Riku. Once Xigbar is gone, Dark Riku begins the fight with his desperation move. Block these, counter, and repeat. The barrier explosion will damage Dark Riku. The barrier makes this fight a cakewalk, but in the situation where the player is struggling, the option to return back and play as Sora is always there. The next fight involves King Mickey.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind: Larxene, Luxord, and Marluxia

Despite being able to play as Riku earlier, the player cannot play as King Mickey in these fights. It plays out exactly as it does in the base game. Focus Sora’s attention on Luxord. Glide around the arena and search for the card with Luxord on it. Repeat this process until he’s eliminated. This leaves Larxene and Marluxia. Focus Sora’s attacks on Larxene. If they open up with their desperation moves, Doubleflight into the air and Glide around until it’s over. The daggers she throws are blockable. Attack Larxene until her health is gone, leaving Marluxia. When he’s alone, he will go back into his desperation move. Doubleflight and Glide again to avoid it. Aside from this, Marluxia teleports around the arena and swings his scythe at Sora. Block these and punish his attacks. Do this until he runs out of health.

Playing As Aqua in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC

There’s a moment to breathe and collect items at the Moogle shop before pushing forward. In the next area, the player gets a brief cutscene of what happens before Sora appears in the fight with Vanitas and Terra Xehanort. Here, players take control of Aqua. Fight for a bit before another cutscene plays, entering Sora into the scene. Now players how the option to play as Aqua or Sora. Aqua, similar to Riku, has a much easier time dealing with incoming attacks since she has a barrier. Focus Sora’s attacks on Vanitas. As he’s the one that has the most ranged attacks. Eliminating him from the field makes the next section much easier. Block his fireballs and Keyblade swings using barrier and counter to dish out damage. If he goes into his desperation move (the move where he rides the Keyblades), cartwheel out of the way and use Blizzaga to get damage. Repeat this until he’s defeated. Now that Vanitas is gone, Terra Xehanort will open with his desperation mode. Go into the center, right next to the Guardian. When Terra Xehanort says “Break Him!” block his attack. Repeat this until the move is over. He has the same move set as when Sora faced him earlier. Establish his opening windows and punish him until he’s down.

Playing As Roxas in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind

The next fight begins with Sora, Kairi, and Axel working together. Play around in this for a few seconds before the next cutscene plays. Roxas is now amongst one of the new playable characters. He’s very fast. Roxas can enter and escape any situation very quickly. Saix and Xemnas are the bosses in the situation. Focus Sora’s attention on Xemnas. Roxas’s dodge can get through any projectile, use this to close the distance between enemies. Eventually, another cutscene will take over and Xemnas will exit the arena, leaving just Saix to deal with. Now the player can choose between Sora and Roxas. With Roxas, use Waterga to take down some of Saix’s Berserk Meter. Once it’s down, attack him. Also, timing Roxas’s block and counter staggers Saix, another moment where Sora can get additional damage. Repeat this process until the boss is over.

The Three Xehanort Fight in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind

This fight is exactly how it is in the base Kingdom Hearts 3. Focus Sora’s attention on Young Xehanort. Use the Simba Link to attack all of them at once. Pop a Hi Ether right after and use Simba again until one of them is defeated. A new move is available in this fight called “True End” where Mickey, Riku and Sora team up and surround the arena in bright light. Attack Xemnas and block out the projectiles he sends Sora’s way. Now and then, Keyblade will come and take Riku and Mickey away. Dodge Roll around until this move is over. Ansem has a move where he pulls Sora in. Glide away from this attack. If Sora’s caught in it, Air Slide away at the last second to avoid it. Attack Ansem until the fight is over.

Finding Kairi’s Heart Pieces in Scala Ad Caelum in Kingdom Heart 3 Re:Mind

After defeating the three Xehanorts, Sora will find his way to Scala Ad Caelum. In Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind, the entire town is now explorable for the first time. Defeat a pink Shadow. This Shadow will be holding the first piece of Kairi’s heart. Follow the heart piece into a new area. Go forward until Sora arrives at three colored dials. Hit the dials when they arrive at their appropriate locations on the globe. Hitting all three to their proper locations will give the second heart piece. Head down towards a water fountain. Hit the four spinning switches surrounding the fountain in quick succession. This will reveal the third heart piece. Head south and jump into a damn. Below is an underground pathway. Follow the pathway until arriving at a gate with the fourth heart piece on the other side. Attack the wheel next to it to open the door. Run up the wall, jump down and land on the cage to get the next heart piece. A cutscene will play revealing the location of the fifth and final heart piece. Head back up towards the cutscenes location and a Darkside will appear. Defeat the Darkside to claim the last piece of Kairi’s heart that resides in Scala Ad Caelum. Before Sora can continue, the version of him from the past has arrived at Scala Ad Caelum to the present. This Sora will now be playable.

How To Beat The 13 Xehanorts in Kingdom Hearts 3: Re:Mind

This is the exact fight from the base Kingdom Hearts 3. All thirteen bodies share a single health bar. Moves with splash damage are useful for this fight. Using Aeroga can attack multiple bodies at once. Also, use Thundaga. Both of these spells will quickly diminish this boss’s health. After the fight, the 13 vessels will make their way outside of Scala Ad Caelum to deal with Sora’s friends.

How To Play As The Guardians in Kingdom Hearts 3: Re:Mind

While Sora is taking care of Master Xehanort in Scala Ad Caelum, the rest of Sora’s friends now have to deal with the 13 vessels attacking them. At this moment, the player takes control of all the other Guardians of Light. Two options are available. “Attack” to dish out damage to the vessels and “Aerial Dodge” to avoid being hit. Use these two as each Guardian to get through the fight. A “Finish” command will appear. Use this to move on to the next Guardian. When the player arrives at the point with Xion, Aqua and Mickey working together, time when the vessels are going in for an attack and set up a Reflega to fend them off. Keep attacking and Reflecting until the next cutscenes.

Playing As King Mickey in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind

After the failure to defeat the vessels, everyone gets sent to other areas except for King Mickey. Mickey is now alone against the 13 vessels. Follow the onscreen prompts to play as King Mickey. Walk towards the Keyhole in the center. Attack when one of the vessels attempts to damage Mickey to fend them off. When the vessels start to glow red, press the “Pushback” command to block out one of their lasers. Time it correctly to avoid being hit. If the player gets knocked down, they’ll have the opportunity to get back up again. Repeat this until the next cutscene plays. Through this, Sora is able to find the last piece of Kairi’s heart. He leaves Mickey and now must connect the lights between the Keyholes. Aim at a Keyhole and launch light into it. When the Keyhole is shining brighter, aim for that one to cause a larger ripple effect. Do this until the meter is full and use “Enduring Light”. This will reconnect all of Sora’s friends.

Playing As Kairi in Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind

After defeating the 13 vessels, Sora has found the last piece of Kairi’s heart inside of Mickey. She has now returned back to Sora. Before everything can return to normal, Xehanort returns one final time and Sora and Kairi must work together to stop him. Here, players are able to play as Kairi or Sora. As Kairi, similar to Riku and Aqua, she’s able to reflect. Xehanort will slash using 13 Keyblades. Block these and counter. When Xehanort pulls Kairi in with fire, block these as well and counter. Xehanort will also summon fire pillars below Kairi. Block these or roll out of the way until he stops. When Xehanort begins to pull Kairi in, stay at the edge of the arena and spam dodge to avoid being pulled in. Eventually, Xehanort will enter his second phase. Here, Xehanort will rain comets down on the arena. Use DoubleFlight to stay in the air and dodge. The comets are unblockable so avoid where the comets are falling and keep dodging until the move is over. Once the move is over, keep attacking him until his health is low. Use the “Connecting Hearts” command to finish the fight, once and for all.

Sora and Kairi work together to bring an end to Master Xehanort with the assistance of the rest of the Guardians of Light. After defeating him, the player unlocks a new ending and the “LimitCut” episode for the DLC. Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind added some welcomed inclusions to Kingdom Hearts 3 with new playable characters and deeper exploration options with Scala Ad Caelum. Filling in potential plot holes in this DLC as well. This is the first of three new episodes in the Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind DLC.
