Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Khloé Kardashian said she was proud of her ex-husband Lamar Odom for opening up about his struggles with addiction. He reveals details about his drug use and their marriage in his new memoir.

Khloé and Odom met in August 2009 and were married just a month later. The two had their own spinoff show, Khloé & Lamar, that ran from 2011 to 2012 on E!. The following year, due to Odom’s struggles with addiction, and his tendency to cheat, Khloé filed for divorce in 2013. She later withdrew the documents after Odom overdosed in Nevada and she wanted to remain his legal caretaker. Their divorce was eventually made official in 2016. While fans of Keepings Up with the Kardashians have heard Khloé’s side of the story, Odom is now sharing his in a new memoir, Darkness to Light.

In a clip for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloé tells her sister Kim that she’s fine with Odom sharing his version of events because it’s his “truth,” and since they were significant people in each other’s lives, it’s only “natural” she be included in his memoir. Then she praised him for being so open about his issues with substance abuse, referring to it as a form of “therapy” and “healing”. She said it was “really courageous” for him to talk about “the amount of addiction that he’s had” and the “depths of it.” She’s also glad that he set the record straight on who wanted to do Khloé & Lamar, as a lot of fans blamed her for making him film a reality show while he was living with addiction.

She said their spinoff was not her doing and that Odom loved filming, which he also talks about his memoir. While she didn’t think it was the best idea for them, she said he “pushed and pushed and pushed” and “loved it” in the end. Khloé added that while not everything Odom has shared about them is “great,” at least it’s honest and she really appreciates that. Odom loves filming reality TV so much, in fact, that the newly sober star will appear in the cast of Season 28 of Dancing with the Stars, alongside former Bachelorette Hannah Brown and Queer Eye star Karamo Brown.

Khloé and Odom have clearly both moved on with their lives following their divorce, and it’s nice to see them continually support one another. Odom remains close to Khloé and the Kardashian family. While the former NBA star has admitted every day of sobriety is a struggle, he’s committed to not go back to drugs. Fans can read his memoir to get the full story behind what Odom’s been through the past few years.
